Akebia 木通

木通 (Mokutsu), Akebiae caulis, Akebia, is in full bloom right now.

Actions: Extinguishes inflammation, Regulates urination, Circulates through channels, Induces lactation.

Our master, Gretchen, used to bring in a few pieces of the cut stems with delicate flowers on them to our classroom this time of the year.  They used to sit on our desk elegantly all day long.

Unfortunately, it is banned to use in Kampo Medicine in the UK.
