Department of Japanese-Traditional (Kampo) Medicine
Kanazawa University Hospital
It is a great honor that Japan Traditional Acupuncture and Moxibustion Society Annual Meeting 2017 is successfully held in Kanazawa, the capital of the history and culture of Hokuriku area in Japan. On behalf of the local organizing committee, I am delighted to extend our warmest welcome to all the participants from all over the world.
Japanese Traditional (Kampo) Medicine, comprising of Kampo herbal medicine and manual practices including acupuncture, moxibustion, and acupressure therapies has become popular among the world as a result of wider acceptance of the core concept of Kampo medicines, “Patient centeredness”. Therefore, the conference has been programed to provide all participants an opportunity to learn the philosophy of Japanese Traditional Acupuncture and Moxibustion in every way.
First of all, some of the technical sessions on the mainstream Japanese Traditional Acupuncture and Moxibustion by non-Japanese lecturers will be presented in the bilingual setting for the international participants as in WFAS Tokyo/Tsukuba 2016. Secondly, in one of the key symposiums of the meeting, the definition of technical terms of Japanese Traditional Medicine will mainly be discussed in order to promote the utilization of acupuncture and moxibustion in the setting of conventional medicine. Moreover, clinical efficacy of acupuncture treatment for lower back pain will be argued from various approaches in traditional Japanese medicine. Lastly, the historical review of Japanese Traditional Acupuncture and Moxibustion will be talked in the open dialogue session between the authors of the longtime bestselling textbook on the history of Japanese Traditional Acupuncture and Moxibustion, “Shin-kyu no Rekishi”, Dr. Yosuke AMANO and Dr. Hirotada YASUI.
I, as the president of the organizing committee of JTAMS Annual Meeting 2017 in Kanazawa, wish that exchanges either academically or personally through the conference between all the attendants be a trigger to start further journey to explore the truth of Japanese Traditional Medicine.
To conclude this, I would like to convey my sincere gratitude to all who contribute to the preparation and organization of the meeting.
